A unique setting
Get the most out of your stay
An endless expanse of mountains and meadows surrounds the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus. Whether you’re a solo mountaineer looking for your next challenge, a couple seeking a romantic retreat, a family, or somewhere in between, there’s an adventure waiting for you.
Explore your way
Situated at the foot of a vast mountain domain, the opportunities for winter sports are vast. Come spring/summer, the Evolène Valley’s peaks, caves, valleys, meadows and forest can be navigated on foot or by bike, with or without the services of our experienced local guides. Activities include hiking and trekking, paragliding, family nature trails, climbing, mountain biking and more.
Life in the wild
The protected natural environment of the Evolène Valley includes glaciers, alpine pastures, distinct geological features, rivers and forests that offer the ideal habitat for a diverse Alpine flora and fauna. Spot ibex, chamois, marmots, deer, hares, rock partridges, and ptarmigan, amid high alpine meadows and ancient forest.
Enjoy year-round hiking as well as a number of themed trails to entertain and educate children on the region’s natural history. From the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus, take an easy ascent to the nearby alpage, a high mountain pasture roamed by Hérens cows. For centuries, visitors have enjoyed the spectacle of this special breed of cattle and its fighting spirit.
